Is there a way to use special characters like ä, ö, ü for german in the forms? Made a test with unicode hex, unicode decimal and html-name. Insphere does not accept these characters. When exporting as CSV or Shape, the special characters are gone. Same with the french characters like é, à, è....

thanks for any hint.

Hi Diva46

The CSV export does retain the UTF encoding to support these special characters.
You just need to import this into excel using the Data > From Text > Choose UTF-8 encoding and it will load correctly

For shapefiles this is a limitation of the ANSI encoding of the DBF. You should use the geodatabase export instead of the shapefile if you wish to retain the characters as recorded in Terraflex Mobile.

Here's a link to a great document 'considerations for shapefile output' which lists the limitations of this format. The attribute limitations go into more detail ..

' The dBase file standard only supports ANSI characters in their field names and values. ESRI has added extensive Unicode support for dBase files to allow you to store Unicode field names and values. But this additional support resides only in ArcGIS and not in non-ESRI applications. Supporting Unicode in dBase is an on-going effort at ESRI, meaning that issues continue to be found and resolved.
NOTE: If you have to support Unicode in your field names or field values, we strongly suggest that you use geodatabases rather than shapefiles. ...'
