Currently out mapping with a co-worker and we really need the ability to see each other’s collected forms. Please add this functionality.

Can't turn off basemaps

Our data collectors are always connected through a mobile WiFi hotspot. We can confirm that the connection is good because we are receiving RTK corrections every second and the satellite maps (although sometimes a bit slow) almost never fail to load. The streetmaps however fail almost always. My issue here isn't so much that the background maps fail to load, but that there is no way to turn them off. Also, we've tried the background map caching function, but it introduced more problems. Moreover, as repeated in many other threads on this forms, when memory is so limited on these devices that we are advised to limit the number of features stored in tasks, I'm really confused as to why we would ever consider caching background maps that we do not want to use anyway.

Numbering Automotically

Is there a way to set a unique value ID for a point captured. Say you want to collect beneficiary information for a town and need to capture each house and number it from 1,2,3 up to 4 without having to manually enter the value yourself every time you go to the next house.

Capturing Photos Linked to a Point

We are currently using Android OS rugged devices/phones to capture data.
I was wondering if is it possible to take and store photos for a point in terraflex?
One other thing I was interested in finding out, is whether one can be able to scan a bar code that will be decoded and return all the necessary information relating to that bar code.

Data collection "type"

We have collected area data which I have exported as shapefiles. Most of the areas collected have been exported as xx_Area_Data_polygon.shp but a few have been exported as xx_Area_Data_geom.shp and these areas have no data attached. Firstly, why have these few areas not been collected as polygons (they look like it is point data) like the rest of the area data. And can I retrieve these areas that export as Data_geom? The areas show up in InSphere so they are there but they are not being exported correctly. When I download the area files as csv the "type" of the area that don't download as area shapefiles correctly are classed as "GeometryCollection".

State Plane Coordinate System Support?

Hi Tom
I cannot find this functionality in Trimble Connect.
Has the update in question not been implemented yet?

If not can you suggest a viable workaround for getting WGS to SWEREF 99?

Sync Complete but forms are still in device

Have you checked that the forms are on the website? If they are, I would try removing forms, which should only remove forms that have been synced. If those forms are still in the queue but appear on the website then you should contact your dealer for additional help.

We had the same problem. Same errors.

Solution:
We cleaned the tarnish off the contacts on the battery pack with a pencil eraser. Slid it back in and it works like a charm now!
Still trouble-free 4 months later.

Orthometric Heights

Hey all,

My company is attempting to incorporate Terraflex into our GIS workflow. We have been collecting data with GPS in MI_NAD83_SOUTH_INTFT using Geoid 12B for elevation. Our GPS points are imported into an MXD with a data frame of MI_NAD_SOUTH_INTFT where the features are drawn into a file geodatabase with a WGS_84 coordinate system.

I have set up a project using the Add In for Esri and am having some difficulty getting our measurements to line up.
I have collected data in Terraflex and in GPS and our Terraflex values are around 3 feet off of our GPS values. I have our project set up to calculate Orthometric height using Geoid model 12BUS.

I'm having trouble narrowing in on the source of this error. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Draft form

The save as draft option allows you to partially complete a form and save it WITHOUT the form being synced.
It's designed for workflows that might require a form to be filled out in stages, for example If an asset requires physical installation or modification to complete all the inspection details.

Prior to this the form would automatically sync and would need editing or the field worker would have to wait until the end of the inspection/ installation to complete all fields (and risk losing information).

If you have any forms in draft you will need to log into that device and complete them before they will sync. You cannot do this remotely from the web component of Terraflex

Can I edit data?

You can edit points from the website if information is misspelled or just incorrect. You are only able to edit user inputted information. Auto-collected information wont change. you can also delete points from the website as well.

I believe if the form is still considered a Draft, it is missing some required information. The missing information could be gps position or a field is missing data. Check those Drafts for fields with red *.

Yes. Same problem. Was out doing a large survey with my Geo7x the other day and sat maps would not load at all. Along with levels of crashing/freezing I've not experienced for years. Like going back to the bad old days of 2015 with TF.

Hi wolfr

Terraflex on WEHH operating systems will always default to the Trimble Street layer so they can't be disabled completely.
Loading issues like this would point to a data connection problem or an older version of Terraflex so these are the first things to check.

The latest current WEHH version of Terraflex is 4.1.8.7969 and can be downloaded here
You can use the ABOUT option on the menu bar to check your version.
Before updating please ensure you have sync'd any outstanding data from the device.

If everything's up to date I would to take advantage of the background map caching function - when you are connected to the office or some other WiFi hub.
Pre cached mapping will then reliably load without you having to rely on the cellular network for that area.

If this problem persists then you should grab the log files and escalate this to the Trimble support team

GNSS server crashes

Hi wolfr

Without more detail I can only talk in general terms here but memory issues can relate to and be mitigated in several ways.
Before running through any of the suggestions below please can you do the following:
  • Make sure all your unsync'd Terraflex forms have been sync'd back to the cloud
  • Take a copy of the log files from the device following the instructions here.
If you need to escalate this to the support team after trying the steps below then this will provide important information on what has been going on the device

Geo7x
  • Ensuring you are on the most up to date versions of software and firmware for the Geo7x and Terraflex
  • Geo7 x latest OS v6.7.18
  • Release Notes - for installation instructions and updates
  • This also updates the GNSS firmware to the latest 4.50.3 for GNSS improvements.
Note this will require you to back up and data before hand on an SD card or your PC and to reinstall Terraflex

  • Ensure you are on the latest version of Terraflex for WEHH
This is version 4.1.8.7969 and can be downloaded here (If Terraflex has not already prompted you to update)
Terraflex configuration and management

  • Are you running other apps alongside Terraflex? Try minimising them when collecting data
  • How big are your TASKS?
If you are working with large task datasets then think about splitting these into smaller manageable blocks. The current limit on TASKS is 1000

  • Think about offline workflows if you are in an area with poor network coverage
  • Caching the background map can alleviate the extra CPU work required for Terraflex and the Geo7x modem to download and render the base mapping, particuarly if you are in an area of intermittant or poor network coverage.
  • If you don't require a data connection for any real-time corrections then you can utlise the Sync on Wifi only option (SETTINGS > Sync on Wifi Only)
Again this will reduce the amount of processing required for live suncing via your data connection. You can sync forms when you get back to the office or connect to a Wifi hub

  • In Terraflex try not to let forms (particuarly with photo attachments) build up and be stored locally on the device
Once a form is sync'd then it is stored in the cloud so you can use the REMOVE FORMS option to clear out any unecessary data.
This will be local for each project so you may have to repeat this for the projects on the device

The biggest win here will be on the OS and software updates.

Run through the steps above and If you are still having problems, send the logs gathered BEFORE these updates Into the support team following the instructions on Need Support? Here's what you should do
